About

The name 5857 comes from Isaiah 58:5–7, a passage that reminds us that genuine faith is expressed not only in reflection, but also in caring for others.

Our hope is simple: create resources that encourage thoughtful living and help support practical acts of compassion.

Artificial intelligence plays a genuine role in the development of 5857 resources. It serves as a conversation partner — asking questions, challenging assumptions, organizing ideas, and helping refine countless drafts.

Our Giving Strategy

Isaiah 58 doesn’t let faith stop at good intentions — it asks what you’re actually doing about hunger. So here’s exactly what we do.

5857’s first obligation is covering the basics of running a company — wages, expenses, and so on. Everything left over — net profit — gets split in half: 50% goes directly to food programs, and 50% goes toward reinvestment and ownership returns. This is still a private company, and running it honestly means it has to sustain the people who own it too — not just the mission.

Our fiscal year ends December 31. Whatever that year has earned for food programs goes out within three months — by March 31 at the latest — and we’ll update this page the moment it happens. Stay tuned!

We split it that way for the same reason most mission-driven companies do: a stronger company gives more over time. Reinvesting isn’t the opposite of generosity — it’s part of what makes next year’s giving bigger than this year’s.

One honest note: 5857 doesn’t have profit to split yet. This policy isn’t a result we’re reporting — it’s a structure we’ve already committed to, so that the moment there’s something to give, it moves without a second thought.

We’re a small company still finding our footing, and we reserve the right to adjust this structure as circumstances change. If that happens, we’ll update this page rather than quietly walk away from it.
